A research prototype released by the DeepSeek team: an autonomous coding agent that watches over a single GitHub repository for the team, packaged as a plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH). Once assigned a task by an authorized person via GitHub or Feishu, it creates a ticket, completes the work in an isolated session and directory, and then returns to the original conversation to deliver results, such as opening a PR; the web dashboard only lists items requiring human attention.

Rationale
- The design principle is to "minimize human attention consumption": it only acts when directly assigned by an authorized person or when team-defined rules permit; it confirms once upon accepting a task, remains silent during execution, and only speaks up when results are ready, a decision is needed, or it gets stuck; changes requiring design decisions pause to ask a specific question
- Proactive work inferred from rules without explicit assignment defaults to observe mode: it only logs "would have accepted" without actually executing, allowing review of these logs before switching to auto; the dashboard sorts by pending answers, pending reviews, blocked, and failed, and does not take up space when status is normal
- Each ticket has its own execution session (worker-<ticket number>) and directory, with configurable preparation commands using git worktree to check out code; foreground commands move to the background after 5 seconds, allowing the agent to receive new messages in the next step, and background tasks run for a maximum of 30 minutes after the turn ends
Usage
- Official recommendation: have your coding agent read SETUP.md in the repository to guide installation: it asks one question at a time (request source, target repository, GitHub account for the agent, who is allowed to assign tasks, checkout directory, commit signature, whether to auto-merge), summarizes into a plan, and executes only after your confirmation
- Prerequisites: Node.js 22.19+ or 24+, pnpm, git 2.32+, tmux, Python 3.8+, GitHub CLI 2.48+, a version-matched DSH and configured model service; the agent requires a separate GitHub account, Feishu is optional
- By default, it starts a separate superagent configuration (port 3082, branch prefix agent/), which does not affect your own DSH sessions; read docs/000 through 008 in numerical order
Risks
- The official statement clarifies this is a research prototype, not an official DeepSeek product; much of the engineering was completed by coding agents, so bugs and inconsistent code styles may exist; the public version differs from the internal version and the implementation described in the article "Exploring Super-agent Design," with some designs in the article not implemented
- Execution sessions run commands as the operator's system user without approval, and comment or open PRs in team repositories using the agent account; the official recommendation is to start with a short allowlist and observe-only mode; license is MIT, repository created on 10 31
