dsh-video-storyboard 0.5.12 (DSH Video Storyboard Plugin: reworked cut detection criteria, fixed plugin installation hang)

DeepSeek Harness Plugin: Compresses a video into a grid storyboard with numbered frames, accompanied by a text list containing timecodes, dialogue, and cut points, enabling the model to answer "what happened at minute X"; 10-31 received 0.5.4, followed by a rapid release of 0.5.5 through 0.5.12 over the next day.

Reasons

  • Reworked cut detection criteria (from 0.5.5): Scans are normalized by brightness and compensated for black bar ratios; new long-duration curve recognition identifies dissolves and fades. The author compared results using synthetic materials: dark scenes 0/7 → 7/7, 2.39:1 letterboxing 7/9 → 9/9, 1-second dissolves 0/3 → 3/3. 0.5.6 / 0.5.7 further fixed the misidentification of "one-frame-two" patterns in frame-by-frame animations as edits, and added six types of pseudo-cut test materials.
  • Stability: 0.5.9 fixed the issue where DSH hung during loading after plugin installation (attachments are no longer declared as hard dependencies, and a 15-second watchdog was added to plugin initialization); 0.5.11 fixed the subsequent "cannot get property attachments without inject" error; from 0.5.5, separated audio and video streams are merged back by the plugin using ffmpeg, the list specifies whether an audio track is present, and multiple images each have time headers to prevent them from being read as a single timeline.
  • Other: 0.5.8 merged 5 community PRs, with the author claiming a scan speedup of approximately 1.8 times (1080p five-minute clip 6.0s → 3.3s); 0.5.11 separated dialogue transcription into an independent step, allowing text extraction without processing visuals, and if text has already been sent separately, the list can omit dialogue to save tokens.

Usage

  • Install 0.5.12: For standard profiles, use dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-video-storyboard; for the desktop version, git clone the repository, run node scripts/install-dev.mjs, and then restart DSH; ffmpeg is required (winget install Gyan.FFmpeg), and pasting video links also requires pip install --user -U yt-dlp.
  • If you previously installed version 0.5.9 or later and encountered the "without inject" error in the storyboard tool, upgrade directly to 0.5.12; the first scan after upgrading will trigger a rescan due to cache version changes.

Risks

  • 0.5.10 and 0.5.11 have been marked as deprecated by the author on npm (the former causes crashes, the latter includes incomplete parameter changes); do not install them. The CHANGELOG only goes up to 0.5.11; changes in 0.5.12 are based on the npm deprecation notice.
  • Over a dozen versions were released within two days, and cut detection parameters are still being adjusted back and forth; recall rates and speedup figures were tested on the author's own materials and machine.
