Reasons

  • 11-02 created the repository; this is the first inclusion in this column. The author is a tech blogger on Xiaohongshu (RED), and the README states this is a workbench they use daily, including screenshots of both light and dark interface modes.
  • The plugin itself does not include any API keys: script writing uses models already configured in DSH, while image generation requires your own OpenAI-compatible image API service (pre-filled with OpenAI, xAI, Volcano Ark, Zhipu, and SiliconFlow). By default, one generation produces 9 images, with the quantity adjustable. If no image generation model is connected, scripts and storyboard text are generated as usual, but the cover becomes a text-only version.
  • All data is stored locally in ~/.dsh/media-desk/, with no cloud storage or account system. Image generation keys are stored only in the local settings.json (permissions 600) and are not sent to text models.

Usage

  • Requires DeepSeek Harness 0.2.1-rc.5 or later for 0.2.x: Download dsh-media-desk-*.tgz from Releases, place it in a fixed location, and run dsh plugin --profile desktop add "file:$PWD/dsh-media-desk-2.5.3.tgz" in that directory (for the web version, replace desktop with web and restart dsh web; for the desktop version, fully exit before installing).
  • Once "Self-Media Workbench" appears in the sidebar, review the sample data first, then click "Sample Data · Clear" in the top right corner to replace it with your own. Generated content can be copied with one click, or saved along with covers, images, and storyboards to ~/Documents/Self-Media Workbench/.

Risks

  • Cannot publish directly to various platforms. "Scraping your own account" requires connecting to the third-party service Monid (pay-per-use), and your homepage link will be sent to Monid and its data service providers. View counts cannot be read from Xiaohongshu (RED) or Douyin (TikTok China), so you must verify compliance with platform terms yourself.
  • Currently only Mac desktop and web versions are specified. Image generation is billed according to your own API account, and the quality of generated content depends on the connected model. The editor has not been actually run, so interface effects are based on README screenshots.
